I began working as a DJ when I was a sophomore in college. As I navigated the challenges that come with being an independent performing artist, I realized how important branding was in the process. Shortly after this realization, I created the "EchoDrop."
EchoDrop was many things as I progressed in my brief music career. At first, it was my DJ handle. Later it became an organization (of which I was "Head DJ") and, over time, it became "EchoDrop Media" which housed a number of student artists all trying to make their name. The only thing EchoDrop never became, however, was federally registered. In the years since, a handful of other music-related companies, also named echodrop, have popped up around the internet.
If any of the proprietors of the various "echodrop" companies happens to be reading this: I'll let it slide this time. I wish you all the best and you have great taste in company names.
All jokes aside, Echodrop was an extremely influential venture as I began to understand music and music business. After learning from many mistakes, I was able to use the brand and logo to establish and maintain my reputation.
A bit later in my collegiate DJ career, I was offered a spot in the student-run record label at my university. I performed under them for a while, but eventually transitioned to the role of Creative Director where I was able to use all I had learned from EchoDrop to help other young artists establish themselves and begin building their brand.
